Week 3 of the 2025/26 North Caledonian Season had us back at Migdale Park in Bonar facing a look new Thurso FC side in the first meeting between the teams this season.
The game started with Bonar getting an early free kick taken by Jake Lockett finding Calvin Butrym at the back post who rose highest to head the ball goal bound giving the hosts an early lead.
Thurso then started to come into the game & got back level on 15 minutes after a corner fell to James Maclean who headed in to draw level. The first half continued with chances from both sides to get take the lead into half time but the game remained 1-1 going into the break.
The second half continued similar to the first with chances at either end. Bonar started to take control of the game with the introduction of Connel Gresham to the game putting pressure on the visitors backline. A quick throw taken by Jake Lockett on the 68th minute before the ball being crossed in found Archie Ryder on the 6 yard line to restore the lead for Bonar. 2-1.
Only minutes later Bonar doubled there lead. A quick throw out from Brandon Smith in the Bonar goal finding Connel before a good ball forward found Jake Lockett who calmly finished to give Bonar a strong lead in the game.
The game finished with chances for Bonar to secure the win along with pressure from Thurso to give a lifeline. Jonah Mertens managed to get one back on the 88th minute for the visitors leaving pressure on Bonar’s backline but the home side held on strong to see out the win.
