Match Day 1 of the 2025/26 North Caledonian Season seen us face Halkirk United FC at Migdale Park on Wednesday night with bright sky’s on show with what was going to be an exciting opening game with some new players in the Bonar squad.
The game started with some good opening chances for the Home side to take the lead and kick start the season. Halkirk started to come into the game & took the lead on the 20th minute through James Mackintosh who dispossessed the Bonar defender before looping the ball over Steven Martin in the Bonar Goal.
Bonar continued their earlier pressure with further chances before half time to equalize but nothing managed to beat Kieran Macleod in the Halkirk goal before half time whistle arrived.
The second half continued in the same manner as the first with end to end football with the Home side having the better of the chances to get back into the match. Halkirk continued to stay resilient to the pressure until Aiden Stainke picked up the ball in the Halkirk half turning followed by a driving run into the box and a a good finish on the 76th minute to level the game.
The opening game for both sides finished with chances for either to win it but the score line remained even to share the points between the sides.
