GOLSPIE SUTHERLAND FC 4 – 1 BONAR BRIDGE FC – NORTH CALEDONIAN CUP

Week 25 of the North Caledonian Season seen us play away from home against Golspie Sutherland FC in the 1st round of the North Caledonian Cup. A much changed squad from normal was on the team sheet due to some suspensions and absence, however the squad still gave 100%.

The game started with chances for both teams, and the changed Bonar squad settled well into the game. Golspie found an early break in the game on the 15th minute as the ball fell to Graham McNab after a slice of luck where he finished well to give the home side the lead.

Both teams pushed for the second goal in the game for the remainder of the first half, but neither found a way through as both goalkeepers were called into action.

The second half started with both teams knowing the next goal may decide the rest of the game. Bonar had a good chance straight from Kick Off but were unable to find convert. Shortly after Robbie Murray of Golspie Sutherland FC found himself in space as he received the ball through a Bonar mistake, who finished well into the bottom corner. 2-0.

Bonar got into the game through a brilliant goal from Shadi Ali, controlling well in the box under pressure and slotting the ball into the corner. 2-1 and the game was back on for Bonar. The half went on with chances for Bonar to find the equalizer through our front three on the day, but couldn’t find the finish. Being a cup game Bonar had to push for the equalizer and pushed bodies forward, and on the break Golspie took their chances to secure their win on the 85th minute through Miller Mackay.

The game finished with a final goal from Golspie on 87th minute through Robbie Sutherland. The final score was 4-1 to Golspie which wasn’t a fair represent of the game events, but no doubt Golspie showed there dominance in taking their chances well. A changed Bonar squad with a number of key players missing played a part, but the whole squad on the day gave 100% through out with positives to take from the game. Well done to Golspie and all the best in the next round of the cup .
