BONAR BRIDGE FC 1 – 1 INVERNESS ATHLETIC FC – NORTH CALEDONIAN LEAGUE

Week 16 of the North Caledonian Season seen us feature in home action against Inverness Athletic FC in a game played at Dalmore Park in Alness due to weather conditions which meant a more mutual ground between both teams. This was the third time this season the teams have met with a win a piece in the past fixtures.

The game started with both teams looking for an early break through to settle into the game. Bonar started well with a number of chances created through good hold up play from Connor Ross & Josh Sands allowing our wide men to have time on the ball but failed to trouble to Inverness Goal enough to get a breakthrough. The best chance of the half was our own through good work from Connor Ross driving at the Inverness defence, but his shot was just wide.

The competitive first half meant both Goalkeepers we forced to make good saves with both teams also defending well to keep the scoreline even at half time.

The second half started with both teams knowing the first goal was crucial, and it was Bonar who struck first on the 56th minute. Great Footwork and determination from Connor Ross to drive into the Inverness box before finding new signing Josh Sands who finished well to give an early lead in the second half to Bonar. 1-0.

Inverness reacted to the goal pressing the Bonar defence back, but Bonar defended well to keep the scoreline in our favour. Ryan Renwick was called into action a number of times throughout commanding the Bonar Goal well.

Both teams had good chances in the second half to score, With Bonar pressing to increase the gap between the teams to make it 2-0 but on the 78th minute it was Inverness Athletic who found a way back into the game as the Bonar defence switched off to an Inverness Corner before it fell to Lewis Macdonald 3 yards from the goal to make it 1-1.

The game finished with both teams pressing for a winner, with Inverness applying constant pressure on our defense but neither team managed to score again as the game finished level in a tightly contested match and a fair result for both teams in the end.

MOTM on the day was Connor Ross who played well in a return to the team after 2 months away holding the ball up creating chances and brilliantly assisting Josh Sands in the first goal of the game.
